Aims 

After having completed the course, the student can apply the theory on statistics including concepts of probability and randomness on interpreting technical and scientific data. Student can apply the normal distribution and other common distributions on interpreting variance. Student can fit a model to statistical data and estimate the model error. Student understands the principles of planning empirical experiments and can design experiments based on theoretical models. Student can apply the methods for reducing the required amount of samples and can compute the error estimates for such experiments allowing to reduce cost of experiments.

 
Contents 

Rehearsal and advancement of the student’s knowledge on probability, statistics and design of experiments. Applications in design and engineering problems.
