Aims 

After completing the course, student can numerically solve linear and nonlinear equations and systems of equations. Student can apply the theory on related mathematical concepts including mathematical functions, calculus, and linear algebra to simple design and engineering problems, such as optimizing problems.

 
Contents 

The course contains rehearsal of calculus and other basics as necessary. Numerical solutions of linear and nonlinear equations and systems of equations. Numerical derivation and integration with one or more variables. Numerical optimization with applications in design and engineering problems.

 
Teaching Methods 

Lectures 28 h, exercises 28 h, self-study 28 h. Project work 24 h. Total workload 108 h.
