Students who successfully complete the course will demonstrate the following outcomes:
The student will understand the principles of forming methods focused for sheet metal components as well as understand design and manufacturing methods of forming tools e.g. for presses.
Students also get to know fastening methods for assembling of products.
The student will be able to compare the different manufacturing methods in the case when choosing the manufacturing process(es) for a certain product.
Understand the meaning of communication between designing and manufacturing and how to design with the product specifications, which allow for efficient, trouble free and economical manufacturing and assembly.
Recognize the modern machine shop technologies and it's requirements in generally.

Teaching Methods 

Lectures 14 h, exercises and laboratory work 20 h, including practical tasks includes designing of 3D sheet metal parts using 3D CAD-program, simulating production of forming tools by programming NC-machines using CAM-system and interactive operator interface, selection of metal cutting tools and process parameters included. Sheet metal component assembly using different joining methods. Independent study 44 h. Total workload 78 h.
