After completing the course the student is able to:
• define the basic concepts of supply chain management
• distinguish between supply chain types with different characteristics and objectives
• assess the causes and effects of different phenomena in supply chain management
• analyze the costs and service factors of the supply chain
• assess the suitability of the supply chain management principles and theories in different operating environments
• apply material flow control models in supply chain


Core: The basic concepts and typical tasks of supply chain management. Methods for controlling and analyzing inventories. Controlling material flow in the supply chain environment. VMI. Supply chain dynamics, bullwhip effect and its management. Supply chain structures, principle of postponement, pooling effect. Planning the distribution network. Strategic starting points and competitive factors for supply chain planning and control.

Teaching Methods 

Lectures and guided group work 28 h, assignments 42 h, reading 54 h, exam and preparation for the exam 32 h, Period 1-2. Total workload 156 h.
