The Master's degree (120 ECTS) consists of core studies, specialisation studies, minor studies and free elective studies.
The extent of core studies is 14 ECTS for students, who have completed their B.Sc. at LUT, and 18 ECTS for the students directly admitted to this M.Sc. programme.
The specialisation studies include a Master's Thesis and a seminar.
The extent of the minor studies is a min. of 20 ECTS cr.
The following minors are recommended for the M.Sc. in Nuclear Engineering:
SADREE Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency
YmDSaResp Environmental Responsibility
EnDMES Modelling of Energy Systems
FyDInt300 Technical Physics.
If the total of specialisation studies exceeds 80 cr., no minor studies are required.
The student must take enough free elective studies to reach the total of 120 ECTS cr. required for the Master’s degree.
The student may include any courses taught at LUT in his/her Master's degree. Studies in other domestic or foreign higher education institutions,
the leadership training provided by the National Defence Forces and internship (BH10A1500 Work Internship in Master's Degree, a max. of 8 ECTS cr.)
can be included in the degree by application; the studies are approved by the Head of Degree Programme.
These instructions concern only the two-year MSc in Nuclear Engineering, the double degree programmes have degree structures of their own.
